This evening started out pretty normal, but ended with a life changing event!!!
Sean arrived home fairly early and was greeted with a big smile from Caroline!! They played for about 10 minutes, then the phone rang. I answered it.
"May I please speak with Stogi (Sean's call sign)? This is Col. X." Sean put his "work" face back on, and I took Caroline into the kitchen to feed her dinner.
A few minutes later, Sean walked in with a huge grin on his face. I'll never remember his exact words, but it was something like this...
"I know our assignment...we're going to KOREA!!!". (Which was weird because Sean heard yesterday that we wouldn't find out until Dec.)
The rest is a bit fuzzy as well. I remember just staring at him, and asking "Are you serious?" about 100 times, but I KNEW he wouldn't joke about this!!!
So....we are moving to Osan Air Base near Seoul, Korea in July 2009 for 2 years.
Was this first on our wish list...not really! But it will be a fun adventure! When I married Sean I always said that I was up for anything...well here it is!!! And I'm so happy that we will be doing it as a family :)

Congrats on the cool assignment! Who knows maybe we'll see you there.

(If you are interested, we recently started a blog too... blogs.randybaldwin.com/baby1)
Congrats! You'll get to see and experience so many things over there. We have some friends that are also doing a 2 year command sponsored tour over there. They have only been there a couple of months. If you would like their info just let me know - they will definitely still be there when you get there. Her kids are a little older - youngest on is 5, I think. But maybe a perspective from another wife who is trying to figure out her way around would be helpful.
Congrats!! I am sure it is a relief that you get to go with him!!! When are you leaving?
Yeah! You're coming to Korea? I can't believe it. It will be a Spangdahlem/Hawk Reunion. We'll be at Yongsan until July 2010. I go to Osan frequently for purse shopping and to see Lee Anne, Stack and Baby Owen. Seoul is amazing and has SO much to offer with sights, restaurants, shopping... Can't wait to meet up in Korea. Let me know if you have questions.
