Don't Mess with Texas!!Last weekend I spent time in the great state of TEXAS!!! I visited my family and ate some great seafood on the southeast coast. Then I spent Sat night catching up with family at our country house near Brenham (where Blue Bell is made). It was so much fun drinking beer and watching the cows come through in the evening. That night we visited the Bellville County Fair. WOW. I felt out of place, since I left my Wranglers, tank top and cowboy hat at home. There were a lot of pot belly cowboys, barrel racing, and….goats. I went with my brother Patrick, my cousin Chuck and his wife Melissa. It was a blast!!
Here is a picture of me and my "little" brother in the country.
Getting settled...So we are finally getting settled at our new home in South Carolina. We’ve been back in the states for a month now and we have been busy!!! We finally finished touching up the house and had our things delivered on October 3rd. I had a small accident on October 5th and broke my foot. Then Sean left for a 3-week TDY to Las Vegas on October 6th. The house is still a wreck, but I’m getting there slowly but surely.
It’s been a real culture shock to be back in the states. I’m constantly asking these silly questions and people look at me like I’m crazy. My favorite was when I asked if Dominos Pizza delivered past 9pm…they deliver until midnight!!! I almost had a heart attack. You should have seen me try to order cable TV. I just kind of guessed and now I have more channels than I can even count! I’m also sitting on my couch using wireless Internet! Things sure have changed in the past 3 years.
Sean recently replaced the corvette with a big ‘ol F-150 4x4. He definitely fits in the south now; all he needs are some Dixie flag stickers on the back window and he’d be a true South Carolinian. I’ve been driving the truck since I broke my foot (I have to wear this super dorky boot/removable cast) and I literally have to jump in and out. I feel like I should be wearing a cowboy hat when I drive around town.
As soon as we finish unpacking I will upload some pictures of the interior of the house. Here’s a picture of Sean’s new ride.
Miss all of you!!! Come visit soon!!!
